Instagram now places ads in the profile feed – Soundigit Holdings Limited

In a series of updates for Instagram ads, the app pops up ads in other places, such as public profiles and the Explore tab.

Additional updates include augmented reality (AR) ads and multi-advertiser ads.

Finally, Instagram is giving advertisers a choice of free-use music to use with ad spots.

Here are all the details on Instagram’s latest ad updates.

Instagram Ads in Profiles and Explore Channel
Instagram is testing ads in users’ profiles, though only select creators will see any revenue from it.

The ads will begin showing in profile feeds for public Instagram accounts of users over the age of 18.

The profile feed refers to a vertical scrolling experience activated after someone clicks on a thumbnail on a user’s profile. It does not refer to the profile grid, which will remain ad-free.

Instagram is experimenting with the ability to share revenue generated from profile ads with creators, though it doesn’t sound like this option will be widely available.

An Instagram announcement reads:

“As part of this test, we will be experimenting with a monetization option that will allow eligible creators to receive additional revenue from ads displayed on their profile, starting with select U.S. creators.”

No additional information about eligibility criteria or revenue sharing is available at this time.
