IBM expands arsenal of artificial intelligence and hybrid cloud

IBM has announced the acquisition of Software AG’s enterprise integration platforms for a notable €2.13 billion. The acquisition targets Software AG’s Super Ipaas business, encompassing the innovative StreamSets and webMethods platforms, known for their prowess in application integration, application programming interface (API) management, and data integration.

Software AG’s Super Ipaas business, unveiled in October, swiftly drew attention for its advanced capabilities in the rapidly evolving landscape of enterprise solutions. The acquisition aligns with IBM’s commitment to fortifying its position at the forefront of AI and hybrid cloud technologies, marking a substantial investment in transformative capabilities.

Christian Lucas, the head of the supervisory board of Software AG, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “The opportunity to bring the StreamSets and webMethods teams together with IBM to innovate in creating the future of hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence solutions for enterprises is unique.”

The transaction, valuing the enterprise integration platforms at €2.13 billion, is contingent upon regulatory approvals and is anticipated to conclude in the second quarter of 2024. This strategic acquisition underscores IBM’s commitment to staying at the cutting edge of technological advancements, ensuring it remains a key player in shaping the future of AI and hybrid cloud solutions for enterprises globally.
