Harman, a subsidiary of Samsung, has officially acquired the Roon audio platform. Roon stands out for its capability to seamlessly play music across multiple devices in different rooms, irrespective of the brand.
Harman, renowned for audio brands like AKG, dbx, JBL, and Soundcraft, operates on a global scale and has been under Samsung’s ownership since 2017. The company’s expertise has consistently influenced the audio quality of Samsung headphones and smartphones.
Dave Rogers, President of the Lifestyle Division at Harman, expressed that the acquisition aligns with their mission to “create exceptional sound quality” for partners and consumers worldwide. Enno Vandermeer, CEO of Roon, highlighted the synergies between the two entities, emphasizing that the collaboration will provide Roon with the scale, resources, and global reach associated with a technology leader.
Crucially, the Roon brand will maintain its autonomy, allowing it to invest in the continued growth and evolution of its business. While operating independently, Roon will share its wealth of knowledge in data management and consumer engagement with all Harman partners, including Samsung Mobile.
